C’mon over. The clay’s fine, and you know all of your player choices will perform exactly as well as you’ve expected them to. Yikes.

Post your accomplishments, vent your frustrations, and commiserate with others over your (probably) alcoholic beverages as you watch all the action, retirements, and withdrawals.

I was really tempted to take La Monf to start my campaign, and if he hadn't drawn Blake to start I probably would have, but I just couldn't convince myself to pull the trigger. Yes, I judged Aljaz Bedene and Blaz Kavcic more reliable than the former No. 7 in the world. Yikes. I have a feeling Monfils may be a real wild card in the contest. Good luck everybody!

With the lower groups I like to take the high risk high reward players here...ones who may be able to go real deep or crash out. The safe ones are often only good for a few points...of course as we've seen many times, every point counts!

Not an auspicious start. My guy (and 2-time defending Casablanca champion) Pablo Andjuar draws perhaps the hottest tennis player on the planet in the first round. Pablo Carreno-Busta has already won 7 Futures tournaments this year, including 6 of the first 7 held in his native Spain. He made it all the way to the final in his only other Futures event, losing to none other than Serbian Davis Cup doubles star Ilija Bozoljac. Isn't tennis just awesome? :)

Here's a short article on Carreno-Busta's tear through the opening Spanish Futures tournaments: http://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/news/spotlight-on/2013/spotlight-pablo-carreno-february-2013.aspx.

And down goes Andujar! Jeez, what a mess. No Cat. C players left this week. 3 players and 3 whole points. Ugh! Will not be an easy hole to climb out of. First ATP World Tour main draw match win for Carreno-Busta, and it comes against the 2-time defending champion. Not bad. :) Anderson better not take him lightly.

Ribbons, can you explain what dominance points are? Have you all played fantasy games using them?

It's a reference to the SkanTest contests run by PeterSkan, which a bunch of people here participate in. The rules are here (http://www.tennisgamers.com/board/slams/skanslamlist.php). Peter customarily posts a thread right before each Slam to invite/remind people to enter their teams.

Domination points (I misremembered the term) reflect how quickly (or not) your players beat their opponents. So in the SkanTest, not only do you have to choose who you think is most likely to win, but how efficient they are about it. So if you're a fan of players who tend to play with their food or go on second-set walkabouts (*cough*Federer*cough*), it adds to the self-inflicted angst. ;)

Getting back to the angst at hand... *shakes head at my dang team* Martin Klizan, you have an H2H to uphold!

ETA: *waves at Charlie* (slow poster iz slow)

This may be of interest only to me, but I thought it was kind of fun (and I'm sure a lot of you guys have done something similar for this contest and others like it). I calculated the points per credit spent (PPC) for each of my players (and for my team as a whole) for the first week. My top performer was Kevin Anderson, with a 3.5 PPC. Next highest was recorded by Berankis, who scored 12 points for only 5 credits (2.4 PPC). My weak links were all my C category guys, led by Melzer and Gimeno-Traver, who racked up a measly 0.125 PPC. My team scored 144 total points at a cost of 138 credits, for an average of 1.04 PPC.

Europe aint cheap you know... ;)

Sharapova lives the next town over from me. If you come to LA, you can crash with me while you try and stalk woo her.

Besides, I hear Patrick is a snorer. :cheesy:

I have been so thrilled to be the leader through the first four weeks of this contest. I would like to say with all grace and good sportsmanship that if I don't at least medal I will burn this website to the ground.

After last week I'm a little bit more ok with having lots of credits tied up in Haas and Wawrinka.

I have two trades left but already have Rafa and Djokoivc....I almost hope they both withdraw next week so I can take advantage of the two trades.

Well, you don't have to worry about me coming close to your first place. Because if I score a medal, THE SITE WILL BURN TO THE GROUND, spontaneously.
And PT and I have basically the same team, so...
You are safe (from us)

Yeah, Gimeno-Traver is a freakin' giant-killer now. Glad you could perform like this for me over the past 4 weeks, Danny. :wall: And of course Robredo will lose to Baghdatis now that I traded for him.

It happens, Attack, it happens.
The terrible thing about these contests is that you can look back and see precisely how what you did was completely logical, yet it blew up in your face.

Not sure what's wrong with your trades, course I might have done the best two trades in the contest as my first two... I got Djokovic and Fognini... before Monte Carlo. :neener: Of course, any trades I make now will fail without doubt now, but I am perfectly fine with jinxing myself since I am no longer even hypothetically in the running. (My scores the last few weeks have been horrendous, congrats to everyone who is better at this than me. :notworthy: )

I'd say it's the name. First Tommy Haas mounts a comeback, and now Tommy Robredo.

Dammit...I never even considered a Sunday start yesterday and didn't use my last two trades (even though last week started on Sunday too!)

I definitely would have dumped Tomic for an active C guy...to chase the rabbit, I'll pretend I traded for Ramos ;) Not sure what I would've done with the other trade so I won't torture myself too too much.

What, Sunday start? The week that a Masters Series tourney is finishing? And even stranger, "The Slide into Paris" ends a week before we get to Paris? Shouldn't we have two more tournaments still (I know they weren't listed in the rules, but I never looked when on the calendar the French Open began)? Not that it matters for me anyway, betting against Djokovic and his bad ankle sunk me (and a few others) by the end of Monte Carlo.

My team never lost impetus, since it never had it to begin with. Seppi was certainly a great pick for TSIP.....I think he barely scratched the surface for me. Anyway, someday I'll get off the great big "bagel" of awards I have won. Still, I really enjoy entering the contests whenever I'm going to be acceptably near a computer to make it somewhat feasible. It encourages me to follow tourneys that I sometimes don't follow so closely, and that's a lot of fun. So as always, I appreciate the organizers of all this!! Glenn
