I guess they have to get their usual schedule of tournaments in before the Olympics.

What I don't get is that tournaments like the Rodgers Cup are holding to the usual schedule during the Olympics. Let me put it this way - I'm not seeing any difference in the line-up of tournaments this summer despite the fact that the Olympics are on. Plus there's a month of hard court before going back to the grass.

Maybe I'm just not reading this right.

The Rogers Cup has made some changes to the tournament because of the Olympics. The draws of both events have been reduced from 56 to 48 Players; the events will start on Tuesday instead of Monday - qualifying on Monday - and the Men's final is being played at night on Sunday and the Women's final is being played on Monday night.

Hmm, didn't know that. But the schedule info you've posted is for the women (Montreal), not the men (Toronto). The men follow the same schedule as always, except for the late Sunday final, which I assume has to do with staggering the Canadian television coverage with the women's semi-finals, which are Sunday afternoon.

Yep. No tournament director (nor the ATP or WTA) is going to just skip their tournament this year because of the Olympics.

I just looked it up--there's the same thirteen ATP tournaments (six European clay, six North American hardcourt, and Newport on grass) scheduled this summer as last and next summer. I don't ever recall seeing FOUR ATP tournaments the same week before, but this summer seems especially crowded because not only is there the Olympics to fit in (and schedule around), but there are only seven weeks between Wimbledon and the US Open, whereas last year there were eight (seven is normal; last year was the anomaly). It's more a month of clay before going back to the grass, but the problem is that there are no other grass touraments than those between the French Open and WImbledon, and Newport. I wonder if Newport has a little bit stronger lineup this year than usual, for those getting a last Olympic-tuneup tournament in.

Apparently, my luck ran out at Wimbledon. I have already lost many, many projected finalists.

When Klizan and Roger-Vasselin are seeds, you might as well close your eyes and stab the draw...

I was particularly pissed by Querrey, I mean he exceeds expectations at Wimbledon, loses a tight match in 5 sets to Cilic and then can't handle Sela at a home event?!

Plus, he was a set and 5-3 up with 2 match points before losing today....I'm bitter, I picked him to make the final.

My score this week is going to be embarrassingly low I'm afraid. I didn't know that Sony Ericsson started sponsoring the men's tour now that they jumped the WTA ship. :p
