Greetings, TATers. Welcome (back?) to A Month in the Sun, TAT's FIFTH annual month-long start to the fantasy tennis season!

Pick your team

You MUST select (in total) thirteen players from the ATP and WTA, to be chosen from six categories. Each regular category (A-E) contains a segment of the current top-100 ranked players. In the new category, Wildcards 'n Hopefuls, you will find no less than twenty players ranked between 101 and 200; ten from the WTA and ten from the ATP.

A team is made up of thirteen players, six from the ATP A-E categories, six from the WTA A-E categories and ONE from the Wildcards 'n Hopefuls category.

For the ATP/WTA A-E categories selection, you need to...

Pick THREE players from category A,
FOUR from category B,
TWO from categories C and D
and ONE from category E.

From the W&H category you get to pick ONE player. Whether this is an ATP or a WTA player is completely up to you. This player, contrary to the "regular" players, can NOT be traded at any point during the competition.

When complete, a team could look something like this.

Cat-A: Djokovic, Kvitova, Nadal
Cat-B: Ivanovic, Clijsters, Monfils , Nishikori
Cat-C: Dodig, Scheepers
Cat-D: Rus, Arn
Cat-E: Devvarman
W&H: Oudin

It is completely up to YOU how you distribute your six category A-E ATP and six category A-E WTA picks. If you want to fill up the A list with three ATP players, that is your choice/risk. The mission is in finding the right balance.

Remember the most important rule! Your team must include six category A-E ATP men and six category A-E WTA women at all times. If you end up with an inaccurate gender balance in the A-E categories as a result of trades (e.g., seven men and five women), you will receive a zero score for the week, and you will be required to expend a trade and correct the gender balance before your team will be eligible the following week.

The Deadline

Your initial team is due before the start of play on January 1, 2012, local time come rain, shine or aardvarks from a passing comet. You must post your team in the "Post Your Team Here" thread. Any and all entries posted at a later time, in the wrong thread(s) or with too many ATP or WTA players in the regular categories will NOT be accepted. We always try to keep an eye out for one another, but be sure to check and double check your own team before and after posting it!

Trades

The team you choose is supposed to last you the entire four weeks but, should certain players fall (seriously) short of expectations, there will be FIVE ATP/WTA trades for you to use to get your team back in contention.

As always, any trades need to be made in the week BEFORE the next tournament starts, otherwise the traded player will not earn points until the tournament after that. There will be a "Trades" thread once the competition has started. The W&H player can NOT be traded at any point during the competition.

Again, please remember that your team must include six category A-E ATP men and six category A-E WTA women at all times.

The Points, The Tournaments

For more information on the tournaments and how many points are on offer, go to THIS THREAD (http://www.talkabouttennis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20173)

And then?

Whatever happens, we can sit down and talk about it in a civilized manner in the "Melbourne Lake Lounge". (http://www.talkabouttennis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20169)

Oh, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask in the "I Have A Question!" thread. You can also just send me a PM if you so desire.

Best of luck! :)
