Queens and Birmingham finally have their champions, which means we can take a look at who did what during the first week of Green Acres 2011!

And whaddayknow: we have three of the usual suspects (Dry and Omegadoom) in the top three, with waylandboy-tw leading the way! Well done! :chrldrpipi:
Thanks to Lisicki nobody had all tournament winners on their team, and thanks to Roger going A.W.O.L. in Halle, a lot of scores have turned out a little different than expected. Looking ahead, Venus and Serena are finally back in action and quite a few of us are expecting them to do well. Not so many people seem to have faith in Kim, nevermind Almagro
As always: best of luck, and remember to get any and all desired trades for Wimbledon in before the deadline!

Makarova and Hantuchova look sooooo similar to my spreadsheet, apparently... :o So sorry, omess. No idea what happened there (of course I do: human faillure!!!) but it has been fixed.

Well,
I did load up on the Men's side and the result was 380 Men's points and 75 Women's Points.
Dry's Hantuchova, Peng, Ivanovic Triptych was hard to beat.
Lucky thing that I actually had Murray.
Congrats to the leaders.

Don't sweat it. None of them have any chance of winning another match until the grass court season is over.

And finally, we have an updates scores table. My apologies for the time it took :o (even though I blame Microsoft - long story)
Now then: the results are in and week 2 belongs to mysterX!! The only player to break the 700 points barrier and the new leader in the overall standings because of it! Congrats!
Places two and three for the week go to Patrick and Togtdyalttai respectively, with Patrick in second in the overall standings as well, followed by waylandboy!
With the A category down to three players this year, it'll be harder to select two winners for Wimbledon and it leaves most players in with a chance to reach the top or crash and burn. Such fun :p Hope your trades, or lack thereof, work out for you. Cheerio! ;)

Fifth in week one.
Fourth-last in week two.
Not that I should be surprised, given my preparation/strategy(?) for this contest. I still need to look up how people managed 650+ points in the second week.

Well, let's take this week's winning score as an example. Kvitova and Hantuchova combined are good for 520 points. Then the odd second round here and there for anything between 45 and 70 points per player, and it all adds up quickly.

Oh, I wasn't questioning your counting. I just meant that I wanted to see who people had that accumulated all those points. (My problem was that I put my team together in about ten minutes before going to bed, and optimized for the first week's draws, but didn't check the entry lists for week two, especially WTA Eastbourne).

Quick update of the scores. These or not yet official, as we like to double check things and there hasn't been that much time since the final ;) Still, it should give those in or near the lead an indication of what the final tournament could mean for the current positions. Some of you will, hopefully, have one or two trades left, as well as male players in the lower categories to be traded.

With Kvitova, Nole and Jo-Wilfried you're already up to 4720 points for the week. Then there's Fed, Serena, and the "crumbs" of points which make up the total.
Not too bad, eyh?

ARGH! I wasn't supposed to be this close. If I had added Kvtivoa for Fed I'd be #1 or #2...and I went and re-checked and a whopping two people added her. Undone by my being too lazy to count trades. This one will haunt me for awhile.

It's all over but the crying. Tears of joy for the winner, perhaps? ;) After five weeks of all kinds of green, we have a winner! Come on down and claim your prize: :chrldrpipi:Martini4me!!:auspom:Just a small blip in scoring during the second week, but as one of only two people to break the 5000 points barrier for Wimbledon, the result was hardly in question after that. Very well done indeed!
The silver medal goes to another familiar face: mysterX! :yayness:After Mahut only managed to score 20 points in Newport for mysterX, third placed Ribbons wasn't helped by a certain Igor K. who could have made all the difference with a place in the final. Still, at the end of this story, the silver lining for Ribbons must be his first TAT competition medal! Congrats!
From me, Koffie, to all of you who took part, a big hug (deal with it ;)) and a warm thank you. 't Was once again a fun couple of weeks. And a special thank you for waylandboy, who played no small part in keeping the scoring machine running in good order. Merci!
The Hard Road to New York is up next. Be ready!

I'm so far in last place the course was shut down before I was anywhere near the finish line. I couldn't even be relegated to "also-ran" status.
RandomSkan would have done better. Why, Terrence McGee would have trashed me.
It would be easy for me to blame this on my refusal to engage in the trades, except I bet I would still have come in last. Who the heck did I put on my team, anyway? Can't remember, but probably dead men walking.

Congratulation to mysterX and waylandboy, who kept the pressure on me right through the last week. Thanks to oploskoffie and waylandboy for running this contest. And most of all, thanks to Petra Kvitova, for coming through at Wimbledon. As I said elsewhere, I'm still puzzled that so few people had her on their team. From all I saw and heard the past few months, she had seemed to me as a clear favourite going in (certainly the contender with the fewest questions marks). Although looking back through the trades thread, I see that I originally added Nadal and Sharapova to my team for Wimbledon, then fifteen minutes altered that to Djokovic and Kvitova. Good thing I kept on thinking about it!!
