View Full Version : Johnny vs. Evan...It's On

maybe Saturday night will give us the catfight we expected Friday night. Only a different sport...and a different sex.

They just interviewed HFJW, coming into the arena with his coach, with what looked to be a handbag. Then they interviewed Evan. They are in full gamemanship mode going into the final

And why are they playing "Thriller" in the background ... surely someone's not skating to that?

I said the other day, Jeanne, that the last skater I really liked was Yegudin (who M8 then told me is pretty much an ass).

But Johnny is getting daily headlines here. He grew up about 10 minutes from my house. So I want to see him do well, even though I think he is a little over the top.

I was really big into it back in the mid 90s (when I was still a tropical storm). I used to skate a little, mostly on blades and could do some jumps. I'm sure if I put some on right now I could attempt some.

Some bald early. I had a cousin who's hairline was receeding his senior year of high school.

As for the music...I liked it until, like yourself, I realized it was Muzak to "Unchained Melody." Then I was just embarrassed.

He looks like he should be parking cars.

This reminds of many of the things I love about tennis. It isn't judged subjectively, and you can't get too far behind that you can't still catch up (until you've actually lost), or have someone run the clock out on you.

The girls coach at my gym, I'm sure, takes pleasure in making the girls cry, it's just awful and I don't know why these parents don't pull their children out of the sport. Adam Sandler Lyrics - The Chanukah Song, Part 3 Lyrics

Artist: Adam Sandler Lyrics
Song: The Chanukah Song, Part 3 Lyrics
Put on your yamulke
It's time for Chanukah
Once again it's onaka
The miracle of Chanukah
Chanukah is the Festival of Lights
One day of presents?
Hell, no, we get Eight Crazy Nights
But if you fell like the only kid in town without a Christmas tree
I guess my first two songs didn't do it for you
So here comes number three
Ross and Pheobe from friends say the Chanukah blessing
So does Lenny's pall Squiggy and Will and Grace's Debra Messing
Melissa Gilbert and Michael London never mix meat with dairy
Maybe they shoulda called that show Little Kosher House on the Prairie?
We;ve got Jerry Lewis, Ben Stiller and Jack Black
Tom Arnold converted to Judaism but you guys can have him back
We may not get to kiss underneath the mistletoe
But we can do it all night long with Deuce Bigelow
(Rob Schneider: "I'm Jewish")
Put on your yamulke, here comes Chanukah
The guy in Willie Nelson's band who plays harmoniaca
Celebrates Chanukah
Osama Bin Laden
Not a big fan of the Jews
Well maybe that 's because he lost a figure-skating match to gold medalist Sarah Hughes-Her mama's Jewish
Houdini and David Blaine escape strait jackets with such precision
But the one thing they could not get out of-their painful circumcision
Gwyneth Paltrow's half-Jewish but a full-time Oscar winner
Jennifer Connely's half Jewish, too, and I'd like to put some more in her
There's Lou Reed, Perry Farrel, Beck and Paula Abdul
Joey Ramone invented punk rock music, but first came Hebrew school
Hey, Natalie Portmanika?
It's time to celebrate Chanukah?
I hope you get an abtronika
On this joyful, toyful Chanukah
So get a high colonika
And soil your long Johnikas
If you really, really wannaka?
Have a happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy,...
Happy Chanukah!

these are all brilliant, and I bet it's been posted here before, but I must remind us all of the instant classic that is this season's "D**k in a Box" video with Justin Timberlake.

Did you even have to ask?

mmmm8 had that one posted in the Dumpster in around, I'm gonna guess, 12 hours after the original airing.

I figured as much. I felt relatively hip for being the first to pass around my office the funniest thing to happen on SNL in years, but my skills pale in comparison to hers.

Just what color IS your outfit after you do those Wonder Woman twirls, mmmm8?

Well, you are a 19-year-old with a Nina Simone/Aretha Franklin/Edith Piaf obsession which in itself is quite fascinating, and then you pull out a fancy for "Piece of Shit Car" on us.
How popular was I in school!?

jj

But it's one of the many things that we love about you! :)

Eh. High school wasn't that bad. I never made the effort so, as didge would say, whatev.

But, there does seem to be something about tennis and contradictory people.

I noticed that too. I';m quite contradictory myself...

And why didn't you make the effort in high school?

High school wasn't THAT bad..i think, as long as one surrouned one's self with people like them, i think it would be good for most people.

At least, that's what I did.

High school sucks. I went (for the most part although my attendance record was interesting) and I graduated.
Amen that it's over.

Tennis fans are the best though!

Weird stuff going on at home at the time. I just showed up, chatted with a few people and made a few jokes.

In retrospect, I wish I'd put in more effort. I scored well enough on my SATs that with even the slightest hint of a better performance, I probably could have done really well in the college admissions department. But then again, I never really tested it. Just went wherever was closest.

I understand what you're saying. Really, I talk to no one from high school aside from my best friend who now lives on the other side of the country. I didn't care either. I just tried to have fun.

But like you, in retrospect I wish I cared a bit more because I would be stuck re-working my portfolio. But I had more important priorities. Like sleep and internet.

Same here...
I had a lot of stuff going on at home at the time as well...
and i really didn't give a flying F*ck about school at the time. I think i just barely passed high school...I missed a lot...my attendance record was horrendous my first few years in high school (freshmen and sophomore years). I started doing well my junior and senior year, but it was already too late to try and fix what i had done in those first two years.

So, i understand where you're coming from.
