View Full Version : Does this worry anyone else?

A quote from an article today...
"The deadly Asian earthquake may have permanently accelerated the Earth's rotation, shortening days by a fraction of a second.
It may even have caused the planet to wobble on its axis, according to US scientists."
It seems to me when you start messing with the earth's rotation... it means trouble... ???

Yes, it worries me. Volcanoes will probably start erupting all over the globe, plus many other natural disasters. I'll keep an eye on it.

I'll keep an eye on it.
Dolly you're a hoot!
I think this wobble and day shortening (3 millionths of a second) of which these scientists speak, is so minuscule as to have no effect upon the earth other than the tsunami effect.
The earth has been through much more than one large quake, so I'm not worried. But I'm put even further at ease knowing that TAT's Doll is keeping an eye on it. ;)

However, I am worried about the after shocks that may soon occur.
After seeing this first-hand video footage (http://www.waxy.org/archive/2004/12/28/amateur_.shtml) of the tsunami disaster, I'm worried too Bill! I haven't seen anything like this on the news. If you're on dial-up, it's going to take a while, and I'm not going to say that it'll be worth the wait because they shook me up a little. Nature can be so beautiful but, at times, so so scary! Yikes!

Scary footage Seb...
I wasn't trying to sound like Chicken Little or anything, and I realize the earth has been forming this way for millions of years...
But it just makes one feel so... mortal
