In this thread I'll be making any important announcements such as deadlines as they come up.

To begin with, I would like to make a correction: the World Cup Contest will NOT be awarding medals.
If anyone wishes to withdraw please let me know, though I hope not and that we may all have fun in playing.

! The third-fourth place match-up will still be played for bragging rights though.

R-16 begins THIS Saturday, so EVERYONE be prepared to submit predictions SOON.

Later today we'll post the schedule.

I thought only players finishing in the first two positions get to play in the next round. Not so?

Yes, but because there would be less than 24 hours between the end of the First Round and the R16 starting, we plan to open up the thread early.

Good, because my chances of being on computer during that window, should I be among the lucky ones, are close to nil (in Wimbledon I will be :))

Around this time tomorrow we will open a thread for predictions of the R-16 matches to be played on Saturday and Sunday.

EVERYONE SHOULD POST THEIR PREDICTIONS, QUALIFIED OR NOT. (we will later discard those that did not qualify)

That means that before Saturday everyone should at least have posted 4 predictions (two matches on each day during the weekend).

R-16 MATCHES PLAYED ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY: AS SOON AS WE POST FINAL RESULTS ON FRIDAY AFTER THE LAST MATCH, THOSE WHO QUALIFIED CAN BEGIN TO SUMBIT THEM.

!We will also ask the third person in each group to submit predictions in case someone fails to show up.

I've added Monday's R-16 matches for predicting.

The last two R-16 matches have been added. (note that the Paraguay - Japan match is actually on Tuesday, so beware of double predicting that and missing Brazil - Chile on Monday)

Quarterfinal matchups have been posted and a separate thread for the QF predictions has gone up.

Good luck everyone! Remember they're due before Friday!

I feel like Roger Federer. I'm just sitting back and watching the people who beat me keep winning! Go Orangegirl! Bring it home, baby!

And like Federer, you're not used to doing that sort of thing.
