So we have 8 groups of 5...

Will we have 16 move on after the round robin?

Will it be top 2 from each group...or top 16 scores overall?

Yes, 16 move on to the KO phase. Top 2 from each group. The scores will be separated by groups as well.

Actually it's 8 groups of 4

I was referring to our contest (not the real World Cup)

Ha!

Sorry. I didn't even know there was a TAT World Cup Tournament.

Drop, I'm confused as to how I work who comes first and second in a group.

I'll be making totally random score guesses for the individual game winners (cos I really have absolutley no idea who will beat whom).

Do they get points for win, lose and draw to determine their placings?

The World Cup gives 3 points to the winning team and 1 point each in case of a tie. Zero points if you lose.

Two highest scores qualify first and second. There are deciders in case of a tie such as difference between goals scored and against. (but you're better off just guessing than trying to use these, it's like trying to determine the tiebreakers in the YEC :cheesy:)

If we don't come in the top two of our group (and the top two actually make picks) ther would be no reason to do R16 picks right (other than for fun)?

Correct.

If you predict a tie in R16, do you have to get the winner in PK shootout to earn the point??

Since ultimately there are no ties, what you're predicting is which team wins. So in case of a "tie" you get 3 points if you correctly predict who wins the PK shootout and the bonus point for the correct regular + overtime score.

Example:
USA 2-2 Ghana, US wins in PK

You only get three points if the US wins and the bonus point only if you get the correct tied score.

Cool!

So basically you are predicating which teams go through.
And the score is just for the bonus.

So if I predict Germany beat England 0-0 in PK
and then if Germany beat England 1-0,
I still got 3 points, right?

ONe more thing,
and the correct score is for 120 minutes?

So if the match end up 0-0 after 90 mins
and 1-0 after extra time.

1-0 gots the extra bonus point?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but I think that proposition is wrong. It doesn't matter for scoring whether they win 1-0 in 90 minutes or in overtime.

Yes

I mean the bonus point for correct score...

Is it just the final score or does it cut off at 90 mins??

so if the score is 0-0 at 90 mins and 1-0 at 120 mins..

Is 1-0 prediction getting the bonus 1` point instead of 0-0?
or the other way round??

Say you predict USA 1 - Ghana 0. If they achieve that scoreline in the regular 90', OK; if they have to go overtime to do it, also OK. Same bonus since the final score matches yours.
