Your Day 6 Event is: Women's 15km Individual Biathlon
Your Day 6 Pick is due: Feb. 18, 10:20 AM PST, 1:20 PM Eastern US time
NOTE: This is an earlier start time than most events have been!

About the event: The Womenís 15km individual Biathlon is a tough task combining cross country skiing and target shooting. Cross Country Skiing is a sport known for being a grind because it uses every muscle in the body. The 15km distance is skied over five laps on a course that includes uphill and downhill areas. The shooting part is done over four parts in which the athletes have to shoot in two different stances, the stances are standing and prone which is done lying down on their stomach. Each Biathlete skis with a rifle that is at least 7.7 pounds. The athletes are shooting at circular targets that are 50 meters away, if a target is missed one minute will be added to the competitorís time. The order in which the athletesí start is one Biathlete starts out, 30 seconds later another competitor will follow them. This way the race is not the first person wins, it is the person with the fastest time wins

Among the competitors*:

Martina Beck GER

Given the rampant nature of gun violence in the United States, I'm amazed that we can't produce a single athlete who can both shoot AND ski.

There was one girl. I noticed because her last name is Studebaker (like the car company)

Finally, the first event where "upsets" reign supreme.

Biathlon (and the long individual race in particular) is extremely difficult to predict. I changed at the last minute because Johnsson while dominant in the World Cup looked to be in a poor form. Neuner is the best skier, but she also needed to shoot superbly...

Thanks for including biathlon, but in the future I would advise using one of the mass starts instead. Those don't depend on luck so much because everyone starts at the same time (more exciting too).
