Below are the 41 players who survived the first four rounds of our 5th annual US Open Womens' Suicide Pool. From a start of 377 (a record high), these are the ones who navigated an often tricky, and somewhat maddening first 8 days, making it into the quarterfinals.
As we are now down to the final four picks, and some incredbily tricky ones at that, it is extremely important to keep an eye on who you have used so far in the game. This thread will continue to be updated daily to reflect most recent choices, but be sure to check every day before logging your selection.
Remember, as always, if there is an error in the P&R, simply send me a PM, and I'll get it corrected for you as soon as possible.

I was wondering : the players who can't beat the draw having picked both clijsters and li shouldn't be red and out ?

I think the policy is that nobody's out till they're out.

No, because they are not yet out, Frost. Even though they used them, they all still have at least one more day of picks if they still have Serena, and 2 if they still have one of the remaining players on the other half. So, they aren't "redded" until they have no picks left, or their pick loses.

Pennetta, Flavia.
I've corrected it Bismarck. Thanks for letting me know.

Day 9 picks - Flavia the only player on the outside, looking in. And, some people used Serena and saved Kim!
Clijsters: 25
S. Williams: 11
Na Li: 3

Well Clijsters is through.
Moose, I'm not so surprised some people chose to save Kim over Serena. With the way she's playing, she can give Serena a run for her money. Of course personally I still think Serena will win but you never know with the wacky women's USO we're having this year.

Out of 11 S. Williams picker, only 3 genuinely saved Kimmie over her. The other 8 has no choice as they have used Clijsters earlier.

41 - 5 = 36 headed into the 2nd womens quarterfinal day. Be interesting to see where we go. There will be a fair number out tomorrow, as the most likely 1/4s pick is Wickmayer/K Bondarenko. Then we have a good number who have allready used either/nboth Wozniacki and Oudin. 3 have saved Kim for either a semi or a final pick. Most players appear to have saved Serena as their winner, if they get that far.

Please don't be alarmed if you do not see the thread updated when you check in during the day today. I'll be on the road a good part of the day, but will have everything updated by this evening.
And FYI - the women do not play at the US Open on Thursday, it is a rest day as they bring the 1/2s of the draw together for Fridays semis. So if you survive today's pick, you get an extra day to contemplate your final choices.

I don't really have a choice. If Wickmayer actually wins today (how likely is that?) I can only pick Serena and then I'm done.

I just noticed that I am red for not making a day 9 pick, but I did make a pick. It is post #44 on the Day 9 picks thread (I took Clijsters). I also made my Day 10 pick (Oudin), not realizing that I had been put in the red.

By my (very un-official) count, Day 10 picks distribution:
Wickmayer: 11
Oudin: 6
Bondarenko: 17
Wozniacki: 3

Thanks for the count. So by the end of the day, we'll be down to at most 23 and as few as 14. And either way, probably a few will have no semi-final pick left.

by my very unofficial count there are 6 remaining who can beat the draw myself Moose and Kiki D have Serena as well as both Oudin and Wozniacki left martini4me and togtdyalttai have just Wozniacki left need her to beat Oudin toinght. Roshweb has Kim left and has used Wozniacki so he needs Oudin to wim tonight. Apoligies to anyone I missed

Looking at who everyone's picked, it seems like the only possible combination to beat the draw remaining is one with Wozniacki and Serena. Am I correct?

there is at least one person that can beat the draw with Clijsters and Wozniacki, Tog.
Edit: Correct that, Tog. Looks like all the people that used Serena and were saving Clijsters got eliminated with K-Bond's or Oudin's loss.

Can't believe I lost because of Bondarenko. Then again, I should have known better and saved Wickmayer. Although I am convinced if I had picked Bondarenko the last round she would have lost.
Anyway, the silver lining is that it now allows me to freely root for Kimmie!
Good luck to all remaining participants!

Very nice.
I think at this point almost everyone who has ever played an SP has to have been Bondarenko'd at some point. So somewhere on this earth a few hundred people would understnad if they bumped into you by chance, Oplo.

Of the 13 left:
Five can beat the draw having both Wozniacki and S. Williams left - KikiD, Martini4Me, Moose, Shmintz and Togtdyalttai
Three can make the final by picking S. Williams - 3mlm, Gauloises and MisterX
Two can make the final by picking Wozniacki - JoanJettson and Nichollri
One can make the final by picking Clijsters - Roshweb
Two have no picks left - JustMe and Motobass
