So I took Wawrinka and was not even worried about it. The first two sets were pretty routine and he went up a break in the fourth.

I have used Almagro three times for SPs. He still hasn't let me down, and oddly, I've picked him twice on hardcourts and once on grass. Never on clay that I recall. And yet he's such a mess. I cannot keep gettiing away with this.

Today was smooth sailing, megan! The two other times I used him, I'm pretty sure they both went five. I know one of them did.

I picked Monfils today. But I'm a little nervous about the underachieving Acasuso. Ysonga may be the better pick to beat Benneteau. I wish I hadn't used Cilic in the first round. But in a way I'm glad I chose him because it was between him and Stan. And we know what happened to Stan. I hope that after Cilic kicks Koellerer's ass on the court today, Cilic beats the crap out of him in the locker room.

I'm nervous about Monfils, too. But only because I've done nothing but talk trash about him since his behavior at the French Open. It's a karma thing.

On Friday, we saw these long lines outside of Court 11. We couldn't figure out why until we checked the OOP... People definitely want to see him play.

I'm nervous about Monfils, too. But only because I've done nothing but talk trash about him since his behavior at the French Open. It's a karma thing.

On Friday, we saw these long lines outside of Court 11. We couldn't figure out why until we checked the OOP... People definitely want to see him play.

The stands were packed for his match on Wednesday against Chardy. I had to sit through the whole thing to have great seats for Chakvetadze-Zvonareva

Verdasco seems to be made for 5-set matches. :) I didn't see the Isner-Roddick match, but I'm guessing there weren't many long points, and I think Verdasco can extend the points and therefore tire Isner out. Isner mentioned in July that he's still struggling with energy issues after the mono.

Isner's ankle wasn't quite right late in the Roddick match. But he got through it. Could be awfully sore today. But we saw him on the practice court yesterday, so maybe he's fine.

If it makes you feel better I talked dolphins into picking Verdasco. Though I don't know why he insists on listening to me. :) especially after the Mladenovic debacle. LOL!

Truth be told, I had already used Kolya and didn't have the guts to take either Verdasco or Isner. Plus, I have no qualms about hating on Robin if I get bounced, while I actually like Isner a lot and Verdasco too, when his hair doesn't look like he fell under a lawnmower.

Saving Hot Sauce could well come in handy. I wanted to, but probably wouldn't have picked him to beat Djokovic, so might as well use him. If Djokovic gets upset, I'll be sorry. But Soderling/Davydenko was too close to call. I'm not using much gut in this SP.

Didn't think about taking Nole, given his form? I'm thinking a QF upset is fairly likely. I thought about Nole and really wanted to make a move, but saving a gutsy pick for QF.

Nope. But that's because I decided to stay out of that quarter as much as possible until I HAD to go there, so I'd have more options when the time comes. Only Isner can spoil that part of my plan. Which he might. But I doubt it. In the top half, I've been trying to pick close to Fed's matches. We'll see.

My son BHar11 is mad at me because I was cheering for Isner during his match with Hot Sauce because he (my son) had chosen Verdasco in the SP. I tried to explain to him I was cheering for the American, but you cannot reason with a 15 year old mind (as I've said before!). Now he vows to cheer for whomever my SP is playing. So I've waited to choose until after he had to go to bed! I might have to choose the same person as he did just for insurance sake! :p

67 Delpo pickers must think that Del Potro will lose to the British Backboard in the QF, since they now can't pick Delpo in future matches. They're in for a rude shock on Thursday. Del Potro is going to be #1 and a multiSlam Champion in the coming Late-Federer and Post-Federer eras. Murray will be lucky to win 1 or 2. I've reserved Delpo for use in the Semifinal. 67 pickers here no longer have that option after Murray goes out in QF.

That's true. Saving Delpo for the SF seems like a good move to me, but of course it's based on the assumption that I'll still be there for the SF (highly conjectural to say the least). Still, positive thinking seems preferable to to the alternative--getting mentally ready to enter the LL. And Delpo winning the QF is positive thinking, at least for the 15 or so of us who stayed off the Big Bandwagon.

OW!!! :( As Roger once said about Hawkeye: It's killing me today! :confused: While I'm thinking about my "brilliant" chess moves 2 rounds ahead, Murray is checkmating my SP hopes by amazingly losing today, instead of next round like he was supposed to. Off to the LL for some stiff drinks, at least I can toast Roger expanding his ranking point lead over Murray by 1020 points today. :) Expecting to see 67 Delpo pickers in the LL by Saturday at the latest, when Del Potro blasts his way into the Final (to lose to Roger). This crazy SP game is even sort of fun when you lose. ;) Bye-bye for now.

Me, too. I think a lot of people can and may get to the final by picking Federer to win the semi, but most won't have a pick left for the final. There are a handful that will have a pick, though.
