I am SO excited to make my first slam semi in an SP that I don't even care that I'm sharing the achievement with 110 other TATeurs.

When the SF thread pick opens, I'll pick the Scottish player, and will be perfectly thrilled to advance to the final OR be knocked out.

Imagine a few others were also in this situation today...here's something that could ONLY happen at the Wimbledon SP. When Djokovic lost, all of my previous SP picks were out of the tournament, meaning I had everyone in the draw left (of course my Roddick pick for the day was locked.) I also hadn't used Karlovic, so if his match had lasted longer I would've had all 7 people in the draw left.

Since I'm taking Murray next round, should I cheer for a Haas upset so less people win?

Although, truth is, I hope I get knocked out of the SP next round :)

I would bet that everyone has Fed, the vast majority have Murray, and that very few have Roddick, while about 1/3 will have Haas.

Since a large majority chose Roddick in the last round, I will assume most of those picks become Murray in this round. Those of us that chose Murray will likely choose Roddick.

I assume there are a few people that will choose Fed in this round.

There's always an outsider that will choose Haas.

I make very wussy picks because I've been blown out several times by trying to save too many players for a later round and making marginal picks. I think it's a reasonable strategy.

In the first round, I definitely look for the wildcard that has no business in the main draw who is playing a good top 60 person and pick against them. At non Roland Garros events, I also look for the top 50 type player who goes out of his way to play on clay except when forced not to. They are usually vulnerable.

James Blake?

Never say never but I would never pick Blake at Wimby. I'm not saying he can't win but it's risky. There are always less risky picks in the first round.
The list of people that Blake has lost to at Wimby is not impressive. Seppi, Schuettler, Ferrero (when not playing that well), Mirnyi, Hernych, Sagsian, Krajicek. Not necessarily bums but not that impressive.

Other players I try to avoid are Youzhny, Tipsarevic and in later rounds, Nalbandian. By avoid, I mean don't pick for or against them.

16 who picked Roddick survived and have Fed for the final.

1 Federer picker has Roddick left for the final.

Therefore, 17 people left for the final.

For me, after surviving the first few rounds mostly due to the fact that upsets were few and far between, it came down to picking between Murray and Roddick. Fed's name was penned in the winner's position for me from the beginning.

Luckily, I picked Roddick to win that but of course it could have gone either way. I just don't think Murray is a good on grass as hardcourt and really had a sweet draw to the SF.

It was pretty darn close. It probably should have been 5 sets.

Murray outaced Roddick 25 to 21, had 20 UFE compared to Roddick's 24, had 76 winners compared to Roddick's 64. Roddick had one more point than Murray in the match.

So, one Roddick picker against the Feds. It will be fun.

I would have to say No, it would not be great because:
a) I would lose the SP and
b) more importantly Fed would not have Slam 15

So, again, No, it would not be great.

Ditto for me. I thought Murray would win but I'll be rooting for A-Rod in the final so he won't be a one-slam wonder. Fed will get his 15 - he wants to play to 2012 for god's sake. Let someone else win once in a while.

I'm convinced there is Suicide Pool karma. Except for the one disasterous rain plagued French a few years ago, when we had to cancel some picks, it always seems that we work the game down to a small number of medallers. Even if it is 16, that's a minimal number compared to the near 400 that started the game on Day 1. Another reason I love our SPs. NO matter how predictable a tournament can be (here, almost everyone had Roger pegged as the mens winner, and the 1-4 seeds on the womens side got to the final, with an all-Williams final most expected) we still have a small number of players that lasted the fortnight. Awesome stuff.
