Bonjour! Welcome survivors to Day 9 of the Men’s Roland Garros Suicide Pool – the conclusion of the round of 16!

You will continue making one pick EACH DAY of the men’s event (NOT one each round), and once you use a player, you can never use him again. There is a “picks and results thread” posted so you can check the choices you have already made. Please check it to avoid an accidental double-pick.

It is very important you follow the schedule of play for the day posted below.

Post your Day 9 pick by replying IN THIS THREAD. Your pick must be in before the start of play for the day in Paris, rain or shine. For day 9, that is Monday, 11:00 AM in PARIS. For those in the US, that is Monday 5:00 AM EST. Please do not be late, as we hate making those hard decisions, but we will. This thread will be locked at the deadline, so please don't wait until the last minute or you may find it locked when you hit "post."

If you change your mind after you make your pick, and before the deadline, please make a second post advising us of your change - PLEASE DO NOT make your change in your original post, as we often go through the posts before closing to begin the task of updating the picks and results, and we might miss a change if you edit your original pick.

Best of luck, and congratulations for successfully maneuvering through 8 picks!

Day 9 consists of the 4 fourth round matches from the BOTTOM half of the Men's draw:

(5) Juan Martin Del Potro ARG v (9) Jo-Wilfried Tsonga FRA
(16) Tommy Robredo ESP v (29) Philipp Kohlschreiber GER
(6) Andy Roddick USA v (11) Gael Monfils FRA
Tommy Haas GER v (2) Roger Federer SUI

Well, I've already picked Tsonga, Robredo and Roddick, so (more or less by default) I'll choose Gael Monfils.

Kohlschreiber.

Even though he's 0-3 lifetime against Robredo and lost to him in straight sets on clay a few weeks ago.

Even though Djokovic was mentally worn out and very beatable.

Even though Robredo has dropped one set in the tournament.

Even though Kohlschreiber needed five sets to dispose of the burned-out Ferrero.

I might be changing this pick later tonight.

My choice is Tommy Robredo!

(And I'll be cheering for Roddick pretty hard too ;))

As predicted, I'm switching my pick to Robredo.

He's been rock solid at Roland Garros over the years and had no problem with Kohlschreiber in Rome.

Robredo

Keep them guessing. That's my motto.

Actually incompetence is more like it. You can see I'm not used to still being alive in this thing by the second week. I've already picked Robredo on the third day.

I'm stuck with Kohlschreiber.

Kohlschreiber
