marieJ leads the way through round one with 19 out of a possible 20--very impressive

Right behind her with 18 points are munchin, gff0, and James7.

There's still plenty of people in contention. The picture will unfold more clearly over the next couple of rounds.

Good Luck All.

marieJ continues to dominate with 16 points in the 2nd round for a total of 35.

James7 stays in 2nd with another solid round of 14 and a total of 32.

Doc P now stands in 3rd with 13 points in the 2nd round and 30 total.

The 2nd round was extremely harsh to some people. Mrjiggyfly2 especially has lost all of his picks and has finished with 10 points.

Others could still make a run, but that will become more difficult as the tournament moves on.

Good Luck All.

James7 steals the lead away from marieJ with 7 points in the 3rd round to her 3 to get to 39 points total.

marieJ is in 2nd with 38 points, though she may be in trouble with only 3 points possible in all future rounds.

Doc P stays in 3rd with 37 points after he also scored 7 in the 3rd round.

PeterSkan was the only contestant to score in double digits in the 3rd round with 10. He now stands at 33 and could be a threat to the top 3.

More people are out of the contest, and no one has more than 3 picks left. Points will be hard to come by in the 2nd week of the tournament.

The leaders become more cemented in their positions after the 3rd round, and it will be difficult but not impossible for someone to come out of nowhere and steal the contest.

Good Luck All.

It would sink me too, but it would be gravy.

I've lost one on each gender side every round... so if current trends continue a Roddick victory is assured! ;)

I have 2 left after Cirstea beat the Woz

Soderling should lose; but he is playing Nadal; so that line dies after the 4th round

Azarenka plays Ana; so she should also lose; Ivanovic plays Safina after that
So i will hope that safina beats Ana, loses to Sharapova who loses to the bottom half winner

And I want Safina to win this tourney

I would also like a TAT medal :)

James7 still in the lead with a total of 43 points. He could really use a Federer victory over Monfils in the quarters.

But look out for PeterSkan! He gets 7 points in the 4th round to move into second place with 40

marieJ is in 3rd with 38 points, but she's all too aware that she's helpless at this point.

Doc P in 4th with 37 points, but he, like marieJ, knows the dream is over.

ptmcmahon is at 36 with two picks left, but unfortunately, he can't catch James7 no matter what happens

It looks like it's going to come down to James7 and PeterSkan for the medal.

A few real longshots left--possible, not probable.

Good Luck All.

:tease:

This might be the only time I'm hoping for a win from Roger. He can lose (hopefully) next round. ;) My whole late game strategy (djokovic, then nadal) blew up... I had banked half of my men on Djokovic RU and Half on Fed RU, but those latter picks are out already.

Would have been mostly fine anyway, but JJs loss yesterday put me in a tight situation with all my eggs in one basket.

Still, I'm feeling pretty great right now after my TSiP debacle. :cheesy:

Dinara got through, so if Cibulkova races through like she's currently doing, Peter's probably got me passed along with bagging a definite finalist with both halves of that semi there, right? :(

My hope was in a Maria win today.

It's coming down to the wire. If Fed beats Monfils, I think you're tied.

James7

We might be tied, but since he has a guaranteed one person advance, Fed would have to lose his semi (assuming he even gets past Monfils which is not a given).

It's crunch time! James7 and PeterSkan are now tied with 47 points. James is hoping for a Del Potro victory over Federer in the semifinals. Otherwise, PeterSkan will win the medal. If Del Potro does win, however, PeterSkan still has a chance depending on the outcome of both finals. We'll see where we're at after this round. The contest may have already been decided, or it may be in the decisive phase.

Ptmcmahon continues to gain on the leaders, now 6 points behind them with 41. Although he cannot catch James7, he could end up in 2nd, pulling ahead of PeterSkan.

It is impossible for me to win this, because I can't win Jack. But, wait, if I realy can't win Jack, then I win the can't win jack contest. But, then, I've won jack, so I lose. But if I lose, I win.

This is why I love this contest.

James is hoping for a Del Potro victory over Federer in the semifinals.

Yeah right. Federer has absolutely rolled over him so far. The only situation where I'd end up in first place is a Dinara tournament win (maybe) and a Del Potro RU (next to no chance).

Somehow I had deluded myself into believing that I would get a medal for second place, but I came to the harsh realization that I will get nothing today. :( I was in a good mood...

You were doing so well!

JJ losing to Cristea knocked my chances WAY down, so I'm going to blame the girls too. ;)

In retrospect, I suppose I only need JMDP to reach the final if Dinara wins the title.

For this contest, the finals are just a formality now. PeterSkan has locked this thing up! :overheadwave: He pulled ahead of James7 once and for all with Federer's thrilling 5-set victory over Del Potro. As for 3rd place, munchin could overtake ptmcmahon if Kuznetsova beats Safina in the women's final.

There are still 7 people who could get the women's wooden spoon winner correct if Kuznetsova beats Safina, but none if Safina wins. On the men's side, only triet43 has a chance if Federer beats Soderling. No one has Soderling.

Good Luck All.

How about that! Just don't tell my family that I have success in picking losers.

Thanks to the organizers for another successful instalment of the Can't Win Jack contest.

well done, everyone!

I had picked that match, too! Just didn't imagine that Akgul would win it.

Huzzah! Big congrats to Peterskan (who also picked Kuznetsova to win in predictions, btw) and a pat on the back to all of us who went with Pavlovic.

There's another level of wooden spoonism to consider, and that's where in the seeding the loser was placed. I don't think any of the seven of us had Pavlovic in our #1 spot, but Adam R and I had her in the number 2 spot.

Wow, it's really your week Peter!

Lost 3rd place...oh well, I'd be much madder if it was 3 medals awarded! I'm content with 4th, I'm getting better (or worse) and picking now!

Yeah, I know ... it's bizarre. Posted some really good scores in the TAT Arcade, too! ;)

I, too, had her at two :cheesy:
