I have been at mission control for about 90 minutes. I just made my picks and I think I'm ready for a straitjacket. That's without a doubt the hardest YCWJ draw since we started doing the contest. So many of the men's first and second round matches could go either way. You could be a hero or you could be out of the contest quickly.

I'm in!

I basically just picked a bunch of wildcards.

I usually pick from all sides (often 1 from each quarter), but this time I picked all not on Nadal's half....watch him not win it now of course.

Wish I'd thought of that.

A rare clever moment I guess. Don't worry, they're few and far in between.

My James Blake pick still seems unique :)

There's going to be serious carnage first day methinks

But that's good in this contest right? :)

Nice pt! But I think many projected losers will win their first round and create carnage for this contest!;)

Whoo hoo!

NONE of my projected losers actually won their match today!

OK, so none of them PLAYED a match today, but that's a minor detail.

Well, I was 0-2 in a couple contests. Of course, in this one it's good.

Unfortunately the other one was the SP :(

Granollers, I assume....me too. Once he blew those set points in the first, I knew it could be a killer.

New strategy? Pick your sp entrants here as well?

That could be a good strategy. You win in at least one of the contests ;) I feel like both contests are going to be a carnage this year ...

So far only one of my picks played (and lost :cheesy:) on both sides. Good beginning !

My #1 pick, I believe, Rufin, won in straight sets. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I just checked about Rufin, many many people picked him. He's like the Kleybanova of the YCWJ :D

Groth, my pick n1 for WTA is on her way to win in straight too. Well, as long as I stay alive in the men's field, I'm okay with that.

Half of my picks have already won their matches. And two more (Kutuzova and Greul) play tomorrow.

You better hope Federer loses early with that one.

Heh...that pick may already be screwed anyways, I was picking Berdych to make it a bit further. Like I said, my startegy was pick 4 guys not on Nadal's half - and this was my #4 pick. I was more happy that it was a completely unique pick and worked out.

Looking way ahead, is there really anyone on the top half of that quarter who'd have any shot at beating Fed? Monfils maybe?

Yeah, Monfils is really the only one with any kind of shot. And that's assuming he's fully recovered from his injury, which I'm pretty sure he's not.

4 ladies' picks. 4 first-round winners. I am officially the worst at this contest.

I really did bad with the ladies, only my 4th pick lost.
It's better with the men, with only Rochus winning his match (against Santoro.. sob :()

Due to looking at the draw wrong...I now need Kateryna Bondarenko to win!

Well, I'm down to 2 men left. Ladies all deserted me.

Try 6 of 8 picked winning. :hyst:

The only saving grace, which at this point has been rendered completely useless, is that my two top seeds (Parmentier and Greul) are still alive...

Though officially on life support.

And feeding tubes.

A Fed win away from having one of the final four on men's and women's! Not bad.

Think Domi can put me in the final by beating Safina tomorrow? :)
