Congratulations to Doc_P, kayce and e11even for taking the top three spots after the first week! Not much between you three at the moment :) Week 2 should prove to be interesting at the very least, with several teams depending on just two or three players to make the difference before the AO starts; good luck!

Thanks Koffie !!!! (I had missed this thread)

and congratulations to Doc_P. I'm impressed. I'm doing mucho better then usual and I am only in the middle of the pack ... :o

I got very lucky; I don't know that it will hold
I only have one trade left; and i think it will be Pe'er; as much as i am devoted to her, and I thought the offseason switch in coaches and a new focus would help. Not seeing her go down to Penetta.

Another good start for me! :yahoo: Not expecting much this week as I have only Tsonga and Kohlschreiber left for the ATP side and almost everyone else has Serena & Dementieva (even Wozniacki) for WTA. And as everyone must have realized by now, winning AMitS would depend heavily on AO results anyway.

Always so depressing to think you're near the top...and find out you're 400 points out!

kayce
01-13-2009, 01:22 PM
hahaha... how did this happen? Don't worry, I'll take my rightful place in the bottom half soon enough I'm sure.

Congrats to the leaders, well done.

But yay me, top ten finish...I can't see that lasting.

And now, the updated scores...

Week 2 sees garp6 making up some serious ground with a whopping 1507 points  which puts him within an interesting distance of our new leader: kayce! Drop-shot's second strong week moves him into second place, while Moose and shtexas now have (even) more bling within their grasp...!

With the points cow that is the Australian Open underway and a large portion of the field within a couple of good results of each other, the final two weeks could turn out to be quite the thriller :D Good luck to you all!

4th! Interesting! Now, I wonder if I screwed it all up by not sticking with the original plan for the Aussie. I have no Serena and no Roger.

Make that fifth, shtexas :o Moose's Safina points somehow got lost for a short amount of time. With that issue fixed, we have a somewhat different situation at the top!

hopefully nothing else wound up in the lost and found....

Still doesn't change the fact I have no Roger or Serena for the Aussie.

I think I'm one of two with Roddick, and probably the only with Ljubcic...so if one of them win I'd be in good shape. Otherwise...notta chance. None of my women's picks are unique enough to gain any points.

My best scenario - Murray-Nadal, Nalbandian-Federer and Jankovic-Wozniacki, Dementieva-Kvitova semi finals. Kvitova would be particularly good...

While I'd like to claim all 1507 points in Week 2, I believe there is a slight error. I noticed on the detailed scores that Soderling is listed at 150 points. Since he lost in the semis, I believe he should only have 90.

I'm actually a lot closer than I thought so maybe the Nadal/Roddick combo for my Men's A Players was a little hasty.

While I'm not 100% sure, I believe I have a really good chance at the victory. Since I was 500 points behind, I did not pick Murray/Fed as I probably would have but went out on a limb and took Nadal/Roddick. Well that worked out.

I also had Dementieva/Serena on the women's side which were really the picks I wanted to make.

This was totally against any tennis judgement I have but a lucky thing due to my position in the pool.

I would have been happier to lose and to see Fed with his 14th.

But won't it be true vindication when he wins at Roland Garros. Alas .. even I've given up on that dream.

Even if I've miscalculated and don't win, big thanks to oploskoffie for a great job.

We're hoping to post the final AMitS scores tonight. But there's a chance they may not be posted until tomorrow.

Just wanted to let everyone know as I'm sure several of you are keeping an eye out for them. We don't want folks having a "a watched pot never boils" evening. :)

This stuff is a lot of work.

We appreciate it. I'm sure we can all wait an extra day for the AMITs results.

Congratulations to the Gold Medal Winner of TAT's 2009 A Month in the Sun--Garp! Garp is becoming quite a force in TAT fantasy tennis! :cheesy: We had a tie for the Silver Medal between Scotty and Miles. Congratulations to both of you! Since we had a tie for the Silver, there is no bronze medal left.

And thanks to all of you who participated!

All of us would like to express our appreciation to oploskoffie for conceptualizing the contest a few years ago. We'd also like to thank mrjiggyfly2 for helping out with the quality control process in the latter stages.

See you all next week when it's time to start posting your teams for TAT's Around the World in 28 Days! Stay tuned for details, which will be posted Monday!

Congratulations Garp for winning the AMITS.

Thanks.

Really, really lucky and not just saying that.

Normally would have picked Federer/Murray. I picked Nadal/Roddick in a desperation last second move.

As per promise, since I won a medal, I will not join ADAM.

Way to go, garp, on winning this contest! Very clever of you to have evaluated your standing after two weeks and make a strategic move to differentiate your team from everyone else, rather than just sticking with players most likely to give you (and everyone else) the highest Australian Open scores.

And you continue the pattern of early-season domination of TAT contests by Canadians.:)

i am thrilled finishing 5th (closest I have come in any TAT contest)
