If you are here, and see this in time, please make a second pick in the thread.

As with the Ferrero pickers yesterday, you do not get his lucky loser replacement. The object of the game is to pick a winner. Youzhny will not win.

How many chose Mikhail before w/d?

5 minutes my fellow competitors.

I don't think it will rival Gasquet from last year, but it's a big number.

About 20.

Glad I caught this one 'cuz I was a Gasquet casualty last year and I rather lose in the SP on the court not being sick.

Again, I am sorry in advance. Bad break. But, if the player you choose has no chance to advance, neither do you.

Complete BS about the lack of notice. Oh well. So much for my picks on the men's side of things.

Yeah, it would be way more convenient if players retired at least 12 hours prior to their matches :D

Not necessarily 12 hours. My issue is that the notice was posted with 14 minutes to go to be able to make another pick. I knew I should have scheduled that staff meeting for 11.01, so that I could have kept clicking 'Refresh' for last minute issues. :(

We posted when we found out. He withdrew this morning.

Ferrero withdrew the night before. We posted that when we found out.

It beats Gasquet last year, who withdrew as they came on the air.

And then they had that SUPER awkward interview with him. So funny.

Well, I now hate Youzhny, but thanks for trying to warn us! I know you did your best.

Do I get a special prize for picking 2 players who withdrew on 2 consecutive days?

Day one, I choose Ferrero, he withdraws. I switch to Kohlschreiber and advance.

Day two, I choose Youzhny, he withdraws. I don't see the announcement in time, and am eliminated.

Yikes!

I know you're already eliminated, but can you do me a favor and pick Roddick and Blake over the next few days? ;)

Yee-owch, njdesantis. That's harsh luck. Hope you've ordered something good in the Loser's Lounge to drown your sorrows.
note to self: watch out for whom njd picks in the Women's SP.

When Philipp wins the title next week, you'll have seen that you could not have won anyway, since you used him so early, NJDeSantis ;)

Unfortunately for us, we don't receive the information right away. In the case of Youzhny, who gave everyone 15 minutes to scramble, we're lucky we caught it all.

And trust me, I feel your pain. I'd chosen him, too, and was in a meeting from 1030 to 1130, right in the window of time I would have had to choose another person had I been at my computer. So I'm out, too. Oh well. But at least we at the site were trying to get the word out, which we did, regardless of the amount of time we were all given to work with.
