After this weekend's bachelor party (not mine, and no more mention of breasts around for awhile please. I'm full, thanks.) I am finally getting around to posting the SP rankings for the women through the French Open. No surprises, really, as oohsalmon's finals finish puts him into the lead, almost 50 points clear of the nearest competitor, and with most of the people closest to him defending more points than him at Wimby, it's going to take a solid effort to dethrone him. Can anyone do it?

I sure can't.

Here is the rest of the top 50, and again, if your name is not on the list and you'd like to know how you've done, you can PM me personally.

As a final aside, it's worth noting that no one has beaten the draw on the women's side in a year now. We'll see if someone can break that trend in a few weeks!

:yahoo:

I had never even been top fifty in the women's standings before...

Those 29(?) people not defending their 07 RG draw beatings really opened up the standings.

And just like that.. From top 20, I'm now nowhere in the list.. :wall:

I know what you mean "Eleven". I used to be Number 2 or 3. But darn, I had to go and make a stupid pick and not defend my points. Oh well... I knew it wouldn't last :P

I was also somewhere on the list as a 2007 RG winner with nothing else to write home about. I hope to do well at Wimbledon! As far as no one beating a draw, it seems like Wimbledon is the best chance for that to happen.

wow. moment of exuberance (I'm #12?) ...

followed by several moments of realization: without my 90 Wimby points, I've got 49 in the three other slams this past year. Yuk.

Oh well, just have to beat the draw so I can move further up the list, eh?

I have a question about this ranking.

Zebra won men's 2008 AOSP by reaching the final (he had no pick in the final) and got 140 points for that.

Exactly the same thing occurred to dollymix and Mikel in 2008 women's FOSP - both reached the final but could not make a pick in the final. However they only got 90 points for that. (It is true that they did not win the SP since there was someone who did better, namely Oohsalmon who reached the final AND could make a pick in that final.)

Still it seems to me that there is an inconsistency here: the guys who have exactly the same result get different points for it (Zebra vs dollymix/Mikel).

I wonder if there is there any explanation to this?

Thanks. It will be corrected when the scores are re-released at the conclusion of Wimbledon. It was an inconsistency, not an attempt to cheat someone out of points, to be sure.
