in the 100.

Like lightning out of nowhere, Usain Bolt is now the world’s fastest man.

The Jamaican sprinter, who doesn’t even consider the 100 meters his best race, set the world record Saturday night with a time of 9.72 seconds at the Reebok Grand Prix, .02 seconds faster than the old mark held by his countryman, Asafa Powell.

In more ways that one.;)

Jamaica has had some of the fastest runners over the last 40 years.

Wow...some excitement added to track at a desperate time. Any chance they may sweep the medals at Beijing?

This guy probably only took 39 steps to cover that.
It is getting to the point of ridiculous with these men running so fast.
Amazing

Anyone break both ankles after the match and have to be euthanized? Now THAT would put racing in a different light.

Yet there might still be a lot of room for improvement. Over the past 100 years the world record has been improved by just under 0,9 seconds. Different tech for shoes and tracks could shave off "plenty" more!

I suppose exo-skeletal suits would be frowned upon. Would be fun to watch.
