Thanks, Patrick. I may try my hand at the game this year. I usually skip FT (TAT-sponsored included) because I'm so horrible.

Thx for the reminder, Patrick :) I wish they'd start this contest earlier in the season, though :(

I have been after this for the past 2 years wanting them to start this earlier:

My changes would be(at least):
(1) Start the contest at the beginning of season(ie- 12/31/07 starts 2008 season)
(2) Instead of the max being 5 on using players/teams, change that to 7 or 8.

Do we have a TAT league that we can join?

I was a bit slack last year and kept forgetting to update my team, hopefully I'll have better luck remembering this year.

I'll try to look into this later today. I'm assuming anyone from TAT who wants to play could register, using a handle something like "TATdryrunguy", which would make it easier for everyone to see how TAT folks are doing in the standings.

If I remember this contest correctly, answer is yes on setting up your own leagues on this site but I will let Dry be the official answer to this question as he posted earlier today.

This actually looks like a lot of fun. I just read through the rules, etc. Very complicated. You have to pick your team each week, and for the rest of the year, you can only use a player 5 times. OUCH! But very cool. And you get to pick one doubles team each week, too. I love that part. It's definitely something that would require intense, weekly attention by those who play it in order to be competitive.

We don't have the resources right now to make this an "official" TAT contest. But certainly, if anyone wants to plays it, and I'm sure several people will, it would be really great if they registered for it using a handle with "TAT" somewhere in it. And if someone would like to volunteer to post a weekly update to let everyone know who, for example, the top three TATeurs are in the standings, that would be really nice. I'm sure the participants would really appreciate that.

I probably will not be able to participate. It's just too intense for me and way too long (through Paris!). Given how much travel I have scheduled this summer, there's just no way I can do it and be competitive. But I'm sure many of our members would really enjoy this. So I certainly urge anyone who wants to participate to do so... And I hope a TATeur wins the prize!

I think luvs meant if we could set up a TAT league in the contest (where only those of us in TAt can join :)), not if it can be an official TAT contest...I think.

anyway, we had a TAT league last year for the women's FT on the women's site, but I didn't do so well :p I just don't have the attention span to keep up with it. I think anyone here is free to make a league and then have others join (but be careful, I think I remember that you can only join one league. And if you make a league, you're not able to join other leagues. So whoever is going to make the TAT league should say so before making it so that others know that they don't have to make one/and so they won't join any other leagues beforehand)

I didn't see anything in the rules about "subleagues", but I may have missed it. My impression was that there's just one giant group of participants. But again, i could be wrong.

Anyone else care to have a go?

But I noticed that some people are obviously able to as the tally count for the Argentinians keeps going up,

OK, we're IN.

subleague name: TATleague (kinda like the Justice League)

I think anyone can click on the sub-league name, and request to join, or you can PM me your e-mail address, and I'll "invite" you to join it.

I didn't work for me the first few times, but worked immediately AFTER I created a team. Maybe that's the magic step, maybe it remembers that I "ran" our sub-league last year, maybe the system just got its panties unknotted, ... I dunno.

Let's have some fun!

Seems like creating a team was the answer...when I first tried to join the League there was no request membership button, but as soon as I made some picks it was there.

Please accept my application ;):cheesy:

The website is working fine for me, as I just set up my time. Presently, there are two people in the TaTleague subgroup. Just a note: I think you have to choose your team before joining the subgroup, as the "Join subgroup" button was conspicuously absent from the TaTLeague page until after I chose my team.

Under 8 hours to get in. If there's even anyone on now who's interested :D

There are now 6 teams in the TATLeague, including Patrick Slammers.

Others are welcome to join! And you'll have a better chance of winning if you don't miss this Masters Series ($$$) event.

Play starts tomorrow in Monte Carlo, so get your team registered in the next few hours!

Grazie! Maybe my third year in this competition and being part of TAT's team will finally see me do better :o

This is my 3rd year also and I did the following in the past:
2006 contest starting with Monte Carlo : Finished 26th. Closed strongly but never in contention

2007 contest starting with Wimbledon : Finished 366th. Was 80th when October arrived but faded away. Did not expect Nalby run in Madrid and Paris.

Forgiven, but you can make it up to me by picking Richard Gasquet every week for the rest of the year...and when he's used up, you can move on Benjamin Becker.

:hyst: Benjamin Becker? Ok, I am not THAT sorry:)

Thanks for the remainder as I need to finalize them by looking at the 4 ATP tourneys this week (Stuttgart/Gstaad/Bastad/Newport)

I completely forgot about Bastad and didn't select any players for it :o Oh well, now I am lucky enough to have some dirtballers left ahead of the hardcourt season :p

argh. What with Wimby taking up much of the day, and being out of town, I completely forgot to update my team. Which means that my last use of Roger and Rafa was wasted on a week when they're not playing.

No, they do not count that as using a player. You will have 6 players plus doubles playing.

another question: is the Shanghai masters final part of the contest? So that we would have to save some top 8 players for that?

So, the fate of Patrick Slammers and Broken Strings is now in the hands of David Nalbandian and James Blake (who would've thought that'd be the case??) with just three matches to go. LuckyShots is already guaranteed to finish third and that should also see TAT end this year's competition with three players finishing in the top-1000. Not too shabby, though we ought to do better next year, really ;)
